What’s New?
Twilio’s latest A2P (Application-to-Person) messaging requirements are reshaping how businesses collect and manage messaging consent. To ensure compliance and improve user experience, we’ve updated our Terms & Conditions (T&C) element in form submissions. This update provides a clearer, more flexible way to obtain user consent for different types of messages—transactional and promotional.
Two Separate Terms & Conditions for Clearer Consent
To make messaging consent more transparent, we’ve introduced two distinct opt-ins:
- Transactional Messages: Users can opt in to receive notifications such as appointment reminders, order confirmations, and account updates.
- Promotional Messages: A separate opt-in for marketing messages, special offers, and product updates.
This change ensures that users clearly understand what they’re agreeing to, reducing confusion and improving compliance with Twilio’s requirements.
Independent Opt-In for Maximum Flexibility
Unlike traditional opt-in methods that combine both types of messages under a single checkbox, this update presents each consent option with its own checkbox.
What does this mean for businesses?
- More transparency: Customers know exactly what they’re opting into.
- Better compliance: Aligns with Twilio’s A2P messaging guidelines.
- Increased trust: Users have control over their messaging preferences.
Customizing Terms & Conditions for Business Needs
Editable T&C Content for Personalized Compliance
Every business has unique messaging and compliance requirements. That is why we have made the Terms & Conditions text fully editable within the form editor.
Key Benefits:

- Tailor the terms to align with industry regulations.
- Maintain clear and user-friendly consent language.
Businesses in industries like retail, healthcare, and financial services can now create messaging consent terms that match their specific needs while staying compliant.
Automated T&C Addition for Seamless Integration
Auto-Addition with the Phone Element
To streamline the process, we have made it easier for businesses to implement these updates automatically.
When you add the Phone element to a form:
- Both Transactional and Promotional T&Cs will be automatically included.
- No need to manually insert terms—saving time and ensuring compliance.
- Businesses can choose to display one or both T&C options from the right-side panel.
This feature reduces friction and ensures businesses follow best practices without extra effort.
Tracking & Recording Consent for Compliance
Submission Recording for Transparent Documentation
Compliance is not just about collecting consent—it is about having the ability to prove it. That is why we have added a Terms & Conditions consent recording feature.
How it works:
- Each user’s consent selection is recorded in the “Terms & Conditions” column in the submission table.
- If both opt-ins are selected, the system logs: “Transactional; Promotional”
- If only one is selected, it is recorded as: “Transactional” or “Promotional”
- If neither is selected, the field remains empty.

This feature provides an audit trail, giving businesses confidence in their compliance efforts.
Why This Matters for Businesses
